I doubt many vets would have given Stella much of a shot at hitting 3 years old, but today she celebrates her third birthday! Her health has remained good, thank in large part to our diligence at keeping her cool and calm, and giving her fresh lemon halves to chew on as often as possible. We have been doing it for so long, she now thinks of lemon halves as toys to be chased, played with and bitten! Even our lab / pitbull mix Rufus tries to play with the lemon, although you can tell he's not too sure what all the fuss is about :)
Here is a recent video and some pics of Stella being her crazy, lovable self. I hope all of your bulldogs (and all pets) are doing well, and feel free to comment with any questions or to share your stories.
Happy Birthday Stella!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Stella!
ReplyDeleteI just happened into your site today while I was googling "hives in dogs". My 1 yr old (July 6) English Bulldog, Phoebe, got hives today! She's all better with cortisone and benadryl. Don't know what it was, but it sure wasn't pretty.
I never knew there were bulldog blogs! :)
Stella is adorable!! As are all bulldogs, in my humble opinion. :)

ReplyDeleteMine name is Terry. We have a five month old English bulldog named Titus. He was just diagnosed with hypoplastic trachea and the vet has recommended we put him down. The pup has plenty of energy, eats like a horse but has breathing spells during the night. Can you please e-mail me at ttesone23@msn.com so I can get some advice from you. Sorry I can't figure out this blog thing. I can't put this dog down but I don't want him to suffer. Thank you for your time.
Thank you for all the insight and information about your experience. I have a bulldog that is 1 year and 6 months. About two days ago he vomited and collapsed. He was awake, but wouldn't move. He was very weak so I rushed him to the vet. The doctor did x-rays and he said his lungs are cloudy black. I'm very scared he might have pneumonia now. My stomach dropped reading your blog and other people's comments. My heart goes out to all the bulldogs and the owners struggling to keep them healthy.
